Kathleen (Kathy) Diane Tanem, age 60, of Hibbing passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
She was born January 14, 1950 in Cook, the daughter of Oscar and Lorraine (Sundeen) Carlson. She grew up in Cook and graduated from Cook High School. She moved to Hibbing and attended Hibbing Technical College with a degree in computer programming. Kathy was united in marriage on June 14, 1969 to Loyal Tanem. They raised four children together and she was happy to stay at home with them. For several years, Kathy owned and operated “Antique Treasure Trove” out of her home, did estate sales and was an avid ebayer with vast knowledge about antiques.
She was best known for her cooking and baking and her love to entertain. Kathy was a superior hostess and enjoyed watching the cooking channel. She enjoyed being a grandma to her four grandchildren. She was the most loving wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Kathy will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Kathy is survived by her husband: Loyal Tanem of Hibbing; four children: Keith Tanem of Hibbing, Dale (Ginger) Tanem of Cleburne, TX, Leann (Matt) Lind of Hibbing, and Melissa (David) Burkholder of Minnetonka; grandchildren: Hunter Tanem, Trapper Tanem, Howie Lind, and Emmett Lind; mother: Lorraine Carlson; siblings: Gary (Patty) Carlson, Shirley (Gary) Martinson, Tara (Robert) Uren; mother-in-law: Gladys Tanem; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father: Oscar Carlson; and father-in-law: Arne Tanem.
