Kathleen Pearl Haataja, age 93 of Virginia passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 in St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born November 21, 1921 in Eveleth, the daughter of James and Lucille Davey, grew up in Leonidas, and was a graduate of Virginia High School. Kathleen married Eino John Haataja on November 27, 1941 and was a longtime Virginia resident. She was employed by the Virginia Regional Medical Center for over 30 years, and retired as a ward secretary and was a member of the Virginia Methodist Church.

Kathleen is survived by children: Lynn (Don) Peterson of Denver, CO, Joel (Karen Wivoda) Haataja of Mt. Iron, and Patti (David) Jankila of Virginia; grandchildren: Michael (Karen) Peterson, Cindy Peterson, Erik (Kathy) Jankila, and Alex Jankila; great-grandchildren: Madilyn Jankila and Elizabeth Jankila; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Eino; children: Carol Haataja Hebert and John Haataja; brother: Walter Davey; and sister-in-law: Hedy Davey.
