Julianne McCauley Irwin
Julianne (Judy) McCauley Irwin died peacefully on January 14, 2017 at Caroline Nursing Home and Rehabilitation LLC in Denton, MD. She was 89 years old.

Born on November 18, 1927 in Centreville, MD, she moved with her family to Denton, MD five years later. There she attended Caroline High School, graduated from St Mary’s High School in Leonardtown ,MD and received a BS degree from University of Delaware in foods and nutrition. A love of reading lead her back to University of Maryland for a Masters in library science. After years of working in the Caroline County Library system, she was the head librarian at St Mary’s High School in Annapolis, MD until retirement.

Her first husband, Andrew Woodall McCauley, Sr. (Barney) of Georgetown, MD USAF Retired passed away in 1973. During his years of service, he did several unaccompanied tours so Judy and her family could remain in their beloved Denton, MD. They were charter members of Caroline Country Club where she played a little golf and a lot of bridge.

After many years, she was fortunate to find Hugh Joseph Irwin, Denton, MD USAF Retired whom she married in 1991. They enjoyed travels all over the US, Canada, Europe, Russia and Australia. He passed away in 2007.

Julianne Irwin is survived by two children: Andrew W. McCauley, Jr and his wife, Liz, of Chester, VA and Jeanne M Saulsbury and her husband, A. Orrell Saulsbury III, of Ridgely, MD; five grandchildren: Angela S Allen (Travis) of Boxford, MA, Pamela S Wall (John) of Charleston, SC, A. Orrell Saulsbury IV (Katherine) of New Orleans, LA, Peggy M Close (Josh) of Dalzell, SC, and Julia A McCauley (Jennifer) of North Chesterfield, VA; and her favorites, the eight great grandchildren: Avery and Emma Allen, Maggie and Anna Wall, Paul and A Orrell Saulsbury V (Quinn), and Lauren and Jack Close.
In addition, she is survived by her niece Cristina Poulter Carrier (Ian) of East Hampton, MA and dear brother-in-law John Poulter (Josephine) of Venice, FL. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her parents, Clayton and Madeline Reynolds, and a sister, Jeanne Reynolds Poulter.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the loving and caring staff of The Gables and Caroline Nursing Home and Rehabilitation facilities.
