Julia Ward Walker, 101, of Gaithersburg, Maryland passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. She was wife of the late Milton M. Walker Her husband of 74 years. He was a former councilman and Mayor of Gaithersburg.
Julia graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1933 and Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland in 1937. She was a Montgomery Counter teacher at Damascus High School and Gaithersburg High School, as well as a private piano teacher for many years. She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, a longtime member of the Gaithersburg/Washington Grove Garden Club and Soroptimist International Club of Upper Montgomery County. Surviving her are two daughters Katherine Hand (Gregory) of Damascus, Md., and Barbara Kachinski (George) of Louisa, Virginia as well as two grandchildren Patti Liversage (Thomas) of Frederick and Brian Hand (Tabitha Batson) of Gaithersburg, and two great grandsons Ethan Walker Hand and Justyn Thomas Liversage.
