Julia Ann Prich Stocco, age 83, of Virginia, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Essentia Health – Virginia. She was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Calumet, MN the daughter of Paul and Mary (Reitz) Prich and was a graduate of Greenway High School. Julia married John Stocco on July 15, 1950 in Marble, MN, and they moved to Virginia in 1951. She volunteered as a teacher’s aide at the Marquette School and was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church guilds. Julia belonged to the Northern Club, was a member of the Virginia Women’s Bowling league, and she was proud of her many trophies. She enjoyed the company of friends while playing in the Virginia Bocce Ball league, and dancing with her husband was her greatest joy. Above all else Julia chose motherhood as her lifelong profession, devoting her time to her family. She considered herself blessed to be able to closely watch her grandchildren grow up and was their biggest fan at all activities, and she always enjoyed a good game of cards or Yahtzee with them. She baked cakes for all occasions and was an excellent cook; her recipes will be treasured forever. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who encouraged their independence, was proud of their accomplishments and served as their maternal role model.
She is survived by children: Cindy (Brian) Plesha of Virginia, Denise (Brian) Morgan of Mt. Iron, Mary Kay Stocco (fiancé Scott Gerdes) of Virginia, John Stocco of Spencer, IA and Lisa (Michael) Perala of Virginia; siblings: Pauline Kolar of St. Cloud, Mary Ellen (Wes) Otten of Spring Lake Park, MN and Paul Prich of Calumet, MN; grandchildren: Steven Plesha, Erynn Plesha, Brittany (Luke) Chopp, Brooke Morgan, John Morgan, Nathan Stocco, Robert Stocco, Anthony Perala, Juliann Perala, Jack Perala; great-granddaughter: Blakely Chopp; sisters-in-law: Rozann Prich of Keewatin and Donna Prich of Richfield; brother-in-law: Paul Dubovich of Bovey; numerous nieces and nephews, an extended family, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on February 8, 2013; siblings: Nicholas Prich, Steve Prich, and Vi Dubovich.
