Joyce Marie (Linebaugh) McCrumb, 79 of Portland Michigan passed away peacefully on April 16, 2017. Joyce was the daughter of John & Natalie Linebaugh of Portland, Michigan. She was married to Lyle McCrumb in 1956. Lyle and Joyce had three children Michelle, Lynette and Michael. She graduated from Portland High School in 1955 and got her Associates degree from LCC.
Her life-long passions were her family, horses, travel, reading and teaching young and old to ride. She instilled in her family a love of nature. Together they had many outdoor adventures including a horseback riding trek across the State of Michigan, completed with her three children and her father, John. The family had many camping trips to Lake Michigan, the Sparta Rodeo, horse shows and 4-H events. Joyce was a 4-H leader in Ionia County for many years, and taught at the Allegan county 4-H horse riding camp. She began her volunteer work with the handicap riding program at its inception in 1970. It remained a cause dear to her heart throughout her life.
The McCrumb children grew up with close friends that were just like family. Their house was always filled with love, laughter, kids and animals. Joyce loved to travel and had many horseback riding trips, one as far away as Spain. Joyce had a way of making everyone she encountered feel like the dearest of friends. She was a mentor to many. She took great joy in her friendships including the Yaya’s, bridge club and friends at the barn. She was pivotal in keeping her classmates close over the last 62 years.
Joyce is survived by her brother and sister in-law Robert (Barney) and Laura Linebaugh, children, Michelle McCrumb (Pete Wasner), Lynette Brown (Mark), Michael McCrumb (Lanie), Grandchildren, Whitney Daily (Troy), Haley Bettinghouse (Alex), Kevin Segel (Sahi), Vikki Howard (Dan), Brad Segel, Allie Rush (Ethan). Great grandchildren, Spencer and Kellen Bettinghouse, Summer Daily and chosen grandson Hayden Dennis. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Linebaugh, Natalie Benner Linebaugh, her sister Janie Euvard, and her special love, John (Jack) Sullivan.
Joyce stressed that she wanted memories of her life to bring joy and not sorrow.
