Joshua Mark Kastelein, 35, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, at his home in Plymouth MA. Josh recently moved to Plymouth after accepting the position of Lead Software Engineer for Digital Marketplaces at Boston Globe Media. He was a gifted computer programmer and was excited to begin a new endeavor. Josh graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1997, and lived in Colorado Springs briefly before returning to Maine and settling in Portland for many years. He had a curious mind and an open heart, always eager to hear and exchange new ideas. Josh was dedicated to his family, and was a loving father, son, and brother. Many will remember him for his big smile and quick wit. Josh is survived by his sons, Keller and Miles Sims-Kastelein of Portland, ME; parents, Kelly and Ken Kastelein of San Diego CA; brother, John Kastelein of Portland, ME; brother, Michael Kastelein and sister in-law Kate Kastelein of Edgecomb, ME; grandparents, Dolores and Richard Cope of Ft. Myers, FL; and grandfather, Simon Kastelein of New Jersey.
