Joseph Sawtell Jr., age 90, of Ionia, Michigan passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Joseph was born in Ionia and lived there his entire life. He was a self-employed building contractor for most of his life. Joseph enlisted in the Navy during WWII and was part of numerous island invasions and the occupation of Japan. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and also the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn (Satterlee) Sawtell and grandson, Christopher Sawtell.
Joseph is survived by his two sons, Joseph L. (Jane) Sawtell and Dennis M. (Margaret) Sawtell; grandchildren, Joseph C. (Amy) Sawtell, Matthew (Liz Gensler) Sawtell, Kimberly (Gregory) Mair, and Leslie (Todd) VanHouten; great-grandchildren, Lily, Beatrice, Cameron, Corbin, Benaiah, and Elias.
