Joseph Leo Hengesbach died August 26, 2008 at the age of 84. He was born on June 13, 1924 in Westphalia, MI the son of Edward and Eleanora (Arens) Hengesbach. Joe graduated from St. Mary’s School in Westphalia. He married Almira Laboda on October 10, 1950 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Lansing, MI. He owned and operated Hengesbach Tractor Sales in Portland for over 50 years. Joe was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and Charter member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe was a farmer all of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Almira, his parents, brothers Francis and Norbert, sisters Rita Goodman and Marie Hattis. Surviving are his children Debra (Roy) Wallace of Lansing, Michael of Portland, Sheila (Randy) VanWormer of Palmetto, FL. Gail of Grand Ledge, Joseph (Sue), Steven (Jean), Edward (Tracy), and Laurie (Richard) Krausz all of Portland, Faye (Dale) Schmitz of Fowlerville and Amy (Kevin) Robbins of Holland; 26 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
