Joseph “Jody” Lee Elzea, Jr., 37, of Hannibal, MO passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Jody was born on November 24, 1982, in Hannibal, MO the son of Joseph Lee and Laura Bell (Holman) Elzea, Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Joseph Lee and Laura Bell Elzea, Sr. of Hannibal, MO; son, Cody Lee Elzea of Troy, IL; daughter Rayne Marie Elzea of Hannibal, MO; brother, Faron Ray Elzea of Hannibal, MO; sisters, Delena Jo Trigg (Dale Dandridge) of Hannibal, MO, and Laura Courtney DeClue of Hannibal, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joseph was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Maxine Elzea; maternal grandparents, Enoch and Mary Holman; and an infant brother.
Jody attended Hannibal Public Schools and worked for a local tree service.
Jody was full of life and never met a stranger. He always carried that smile on his face everywhere he was. Jody was a strong advocate for AA and NA and was a faithful member of The Crossing Church in Hannibal. One of his biggest ministries was helping with the Journey of Bethlehem. Away from work and church, Jody was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan.
Jody’s biggest love was his family, especially his children, friends and God. Jody was always there when someone was in need to lend a helping hand, a smile and a big hug.
