Age 45, passed away on May 8, 2005 at his Portland home, after a long but courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and good friend, Tim Goodrich, at the time of his death. He was born in Ionia, MI on February 19, 1960 the son of Brandt Lazarus and Janice (Brown) Livingston. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from Portland St. Patrick High School in 1978 and Lansing Community College in 1993. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Portland Council #2168 as well as a Fourth Degree member of the Father George Godez Assembly #1509. Joe was preceded in death by his stepfather, R. George Livingston; his paternal grandparents, Clifford and Mary Lazarus; his maternal grandfather, Burton T. Brown. Surviving are his mother, Janice Livingston of Portland; his father and stepmother, Brandt (Merry) Lazarus of Lake Linden; brother, Richard (Connie) Lazarus of Portland; sisters, Dawn (Dave) Fletcher of Crystal, Mary (Kevin) Jayne of Carson City, Elizabeth (Edwin) Helms of Ionia, and Laura (Mark) Davis of Portland; stepsister, Amy (Ron) Patrick of Lake Odessa; stepbrothers, George (Karen) Livingston of Florida, Eric Livingston of Arkansas and Matt Livingston of Rochester; maternal grandmother, Marian Brown of Portland; several nieces and nephews who loved him very much, and several aunts, uncles and good friends.
