New Albany – John W. (Johnny) Jones, was born on January 30, 1945 to the late Jessie and Bessie Mae Jones in Calhoun City, MS. He was one of the first Black students to be educated in the B.F. Ford School system and later W.P. Daniel High School in New Albany, MS.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Black Zion M.B. Church He was employed and retired from Piper impact after 36 years of service. Johnny was very skillful at many things, a strict teacher and a mechanic. He loved collecting cars. He was known as a gentleman with a very humble spirit.
He leaves to cherish his memories his faithful companion of 32 years Lorange Rutherford, and their combined children, sons: James Cullens (Tiny), Jimmie Cullens (Angie), John Jones, Jr. (Kay Hilliard), Billy Rutherford, Kellan Rutherford (Queena), Kenneth Rutherford, and James Rutherford, daughters: Janice Table, Angela Boles (Miller) sisters: Dottie Hicks, Lou Ella Carter, Mary Golden (Excell, Sr.), one brother: Chester Jones, 27 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
