He was born on July 22, 1934 the son of Alfred W. Simmons and Myrtle Knight Simmons.
He grew up in Brunswick and attended Brunswick Schools.
He married the love of his life, Jackie Simmons, on November 3, 1951 and shared 63 loving years of their life together.
John was a carpenter by trade. He was a hard worker and very proud of his accomplishments.
John is predeceased by his son John Simmons; brothers Alfred Simmons Jr and Manford Simmons; as well as one sister, Florence Seig.
He is survived by his loving wife Jackie Simmons; a sister Marjorie Webb from VA; his daughter Pamela Elwell; Daughter in law Jane Simmons; his dearly loved grandchildren, Tina Judd and Husband David, Vicki Murray and husband Ernie, Brad Elwell, Matthew Simmons and his fiancé Teresa Hall; and his great grandchildren with whom his heart was always with, Jonathan and Dustin Simmons, D.J., Alyssa, Miguel, Erika and Christopher Judd, Branden Murray and Gaige Elwell.
