John Sheridan Kling

July 21, 1937- January 26, 2022

 

It is with great sadness that the family of John S. Kling announces his passing on January 26, 2022.

 

Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and raised in Mobile, John graduated from McGill Institute before serving in the U.S. Army as a Russian linguist. As a Boy Scout growing up, he became the youngest in the state of Alabama at the time to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a resident of Gautier, MS for 58 years, serving in retirement as a volunteer nurse for Home of Grace and Hospice of Light. John was a Friend of Bill for 47 years, and treasured his many friends in the community.

 

He is survived by his four children, Katherine J. Riley, Mary Beth Vindich (Maj. David A. Vindich, USMC, Ret.), Karl David Kling, Ann Marie Ramsey; first wife and mother of his children, Judith B. Kling; two sisters, Linda K. Smith, Mary Jo Teel; brother-in-law, Leonard G. Teel; sister-in-law, Sharon B. Richmond; six grand children, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Kling, Jr. and Josephine Gentry Kling; stepfather Lennox G. Falck; brother, C.W. Kling III (Ruth “Snookie” Kling); and second wife Bettie Belk Kling.
