John Junior was born in Detroit on November 20, 1957, the second of two children to LuCille and John Noraian. Growing up he was nurtured by a loving Armenian family that included his sister Cyndi; all four grandparents, and several very close uncles, aunts, and cousins. Jr., as he was always known, attended St. John Armenian Church School, a summer or two at Camp Ararat, and those ACYOA Sports Weekends.
