John D. Nicklason passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was born June 30, 1960 at Fort Ord (Monterey), CA, to Donald and Rosemary Nicklason. He had been a resident of Pascagoula and Hurley for most of his life.
John worked in the transportation field and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t drive. His hobbies included fishing, boating to the islands, watching the Atlanta Braves and New Orleans Saints games, grilling and cooking new things.
He was also a big jokester and loved making people laugh. He was very passionate about music and was a drummer for the majority of his life playing in many local bands. He loved his two pups, Sissy and Lil Man with all his heart, and they were always at his side even to the end.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenn and Jean Forrest of Roseburg, OR and Edwin B. Nicklason of Madeira, CA; brother-in-law, Steve East of Hurley, MS; and father-in-law Benton Trehern of Pascagoula, MS.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen Nicklason, and son, Brian (Kassie) Nicklason of Lucedale, MS; parents, Donald and Rosemary Nicklason of Roseburg, OR; sisters, Penny East of Hattiesburg, MS and Joni (Dean) Whiting ofMadill, OK; brother, Ed Nicklason of Roseburg, OR; mother-in-law, Marion Trehern of Pascagoula, MS; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy (Rodney) Applegate of Ocean Springs, MS, Jan (Dale) Hiestand of Lucedale, MS, Tim (Marian) Trehern of Pascagoula, MS; nephews, Matt (Casey) Whiting of Pelkie, MI; Nathan Whiting of Gainesville, TX; great-nieces, Tatiana, Annabelle and Ivory Whiting of Pelkie, MI; nieces, Amanda (Chris) Bexley of Vancleave, MS and Kayla Trehern of Gretna, LA; numerous other relatives and great friends.
