John Roger Bucy, the son of Laverne B. (Pew) and John E. Bucy, was born on July 26, 1945 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Centennial High School in Circle Pines, MN in 1963 where he played football and champion on the Golden Gloves Boxing Team.
He entered the U.S. Army and served as a sergeant in the Vietnam War. He and Beverly Ann Case were married in St. Paul, MN on January 4, 1965. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He later graduated from St. Cloud St. University with a B.S. degree in History, Social Studies with a minor in Psychology. He also achieved a graduate degree in Special Education while John taught at at Centennial High School. Later, John transferred to Little Falls, MN and taught Special Education. He also coached PeeWee hockey for three years and umpired high school baseball and local softball. John and Bev moved to Roseau in 1978, where John taught Psychology and Special Ed at Roseau High School, until his retirement in April of 2006. John enjoyed umpiring high school baseball, football, and local softball for many years.
Recently, John and Bev fulfilled their dream and moved to their lake home at the Northwest Angle where John enjoyed fishing, sightseeing in the Islands area of Lake of the Woods, wildlife photography, and just being part of nature.
