John Boshey, Jr. age 69 of the Vermilion Reservation, died Friday, December 11, 2009 in the Ely Bloomenson Nursing Home. He was born April 18, 1940 on the Vermilion Reservation, the son of John and Beatrice (Redsky) Boshey, Sr and lived on the Lac La Croix Reservation, the Vermilion Reservation, and in Thunder Bay. John was employed as a Park Ranger and a Maintenance Man at the Lac La Croix School, worked as a laborer and a foreman for Bechtel Construction for 16 years, and later was employed as a maintenance man for Fortune Bay. He was also a small business owner, a fishing guide, and a trapper. He married Lillian Rebecca “Rube” Jourdain on September 20, 1961. John liked to organize volleyball sports teams, he enjoyed late night jam sessions with the Late Night Jammers, and was an extremely good fundraiser for Pow-Wows.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years: Lillian “Rube”; children: Stacey (Sue) Boshey of Red Gut, Ont., and Rosalind (Gerry) Jenkins of Duluth; siblings: Justin (Sandra) Boshey of Northwestern Bay Ont., Jimmy (Nora) Atatise of Lac La Croix, Ont., Alma (Edward) Ottertail of Lac La Croix, Ont. And Janice (Angus) Jourdain of Lac La Croix, Ont.; sister-in-law: Josephine Atatise of Lac La Croix, Ont.; grandchildren: Trevor, Trisha, Kallie, Amy, Annie, and Davin; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews including: Debbie (Jerry) Cummerford of Duluth and Richard (Lonnie) Murto of Superior.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Elizabeth Boshey; and siblings: Nancy Murto, Edward Atatise, Bob Atatise, Sam Atatise, Bill Atatise, Alice Boshey, Fern Boshey, and Alfred Boshey.
