Joe Wayne Bobbitt, 79, of Cherryville, MO passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville. He was born December 18, 1930 at Davisville, MO to Albert Lee Bobbitt and Gertrude (Callahan) Bobbitt. He was united in marriage to Dixie Elois Turnbough on December 7, 1981 in Salem, MO.

Joe served in the U.S. Marines. He retired from Amax Lead Co. after seventeen years.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to listen and play bluegrass music on his musical instrument, the dobro, and also would build dobros in his spare time. He always enjoyed gardening and was proud of the large pumpkins he harvested.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Bobbitt of the home; one son, Joseph Bobbitt of Kennett, MO; five daughters, Sherri Baltimore and special friend Roy of Ft. Pierce, FL, Darla Brooks and husband Kelly, Vicki Pitts and husband Brad and Frannie Evans and husband Daniel all of Kennett, MO and Donna Adams and husband Scott of Atlanta, GA; two step-sons, Steve England and Stacey England both of Cherryville, MO; one brother, Jim Bobbitt and wife Gina of Salem, MO; three sisters, Loraine Pinnel and husband James of Washington, MO, Bonnie Langley of Steelville, MO and Darlene Tabor of Cherryville, MO; mother-in-law, Wilma Bell of Davisville, MO; father-in-law, Louie Turnbough and wife Almyra of Rosebud, MO; sisters-in-law, Vicki Brown and husband Jack of Davisville, MO, Darlene Turnbough and Grace Bobbitt of Cherryville, MO; brother-in-law, Chester Bryant of Cherryville, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Louie Bobbitt and wife Carolyn and Jack Bobbitt; two sisters, Marie Vaughn and husband Ralph and Betty Bryant; and brothers-in-law, Everett Tabor, Gary Turnbough and Gerry Langley.
