Joan Wells Dorman, 97, of Damariscotta, died Monday morning, April 18, 2016 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. She was born, August 29, 1918 in Farmington, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Harold and Mabel (Mason) Wells. Joan spent much of her life communicating with others through her sewing and quilting skills. Late in her life she was affectionately known around the Damariscotta community as “the Pot Holder Lady”. Her sense of humor and natural inclination to tease, were evident in how she would match up unusual material with someone’s personality traits. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were reminded of this at every celebratory occasion.
