Joan Claire Schmaltz passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2009, in Virginia, MN. A native of Duluth, MN, she was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Clara (Nowak) Schmaltz; and her brother, Michael (Micky).
She graduated from Duluth Cathedral and spent her entire career at U.S. Steel/Minntac; first in Duluth, and then in Virginia. Prior to her move to the Range, Joan was a member of St. Joseph’s church in Duluth Heights.
