Joan June Oberjuerge, age 83 of Highland, IL, died Friday, August 7, 2015, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL.
She was born on Monday, June 13, 1932, in St. Loius, MO, the daughter of Walter W. and Anna (nee Jedicke) Oberjuerge.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church-Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was also a member of the Women’s Connection-Highland, IL and the Women’s Book Club-Highland, IL.
Miss Oberjuerge was born in St. Louis, MO. In the mid-1950s she graduated from Washington University with a degree in French Literature. She and her family moved to Florida, where she attended the University of Florida and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught second grade in Broward County, Florida for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling during the summers. After her retirement, she traveled to Italy and all of Europe. She moved to Highland in 2008. She was an avid reader, loved the beach, and played tennis. She was also a patron of the arts who loved collecting art and making beautiful needle point designs.
