Jessie Edmond Stricklin, Sr. of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at Gibbs Care Center at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 11 days. He was born September 18, 1936 at Bixby, Missouri to Leslie Oliver Stricklin and Ethel Pyatt Stricklin. On May 29, 1958 at Cherryville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Godbey and to this union three children were born.
Jessie worked in the timber industry for many years and also worked as a mechanic at Schwieder Ford. He always enjoyed going to auctions, shooting matches, watching westerns and watching wrestling whether on tv or going to the Kiel in St. Louis several years ago.
He will be sadly missed by one son, Jessie “Eddie” Stricklin, Jr. and wife Deloris of Cherryville, MO; two daughters, Jenny Wren and husband David of Steelville, MO and Cheryl Stricklin of Sullivan, MO; one brother, Roman Stricklin and wife Barbara of Steelville, MO; sister-in-laws, Betty Jean Stricklin of Cuba, MO and Sally Godbey of Pacific, MO; brother-in-law, Rainey Godbey and wife Joan of St. Charles, MO; seven grandchildren, Thomas A. Stricklin, Amanda G. Kilbreth, Kenneth Murray, Nicole Wren, Jennifer Roberts, Natasha Leasor Volner and Charles Edmond Leasor; eleven great-grandchildren, Hanna Fox, Darion Fox, Kyle Fox, Michael Matthew Fleeman, Chloe Jean Nelson, Larissa Nicole Green, Julian Benjamin Roberts, Gabriel Thomas Roberts, Sebastian Michael Roberts, Kaelyn Leann Volner and Micah Joseph Volner; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Stricklin; great-grand-daughter, Stephanie Murray; five brothers, Norman Stricklin, James Stricklin, Cletis Stricklin, Lawrence Stricklin and wife Rosie and Cecil Stricklin; two infant sisters; brothers-in-law, Marvin Godbey and wife Zeldia and Charles Godbey; and sister-in-law, Loretta Godbey.
The Family received friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
