Jerry H. Ketola, 86, of Lake Vermilion, died June 15, 2015 at the Cook Hospital. He was born on March 8, 1929, in Minneapolis. He graduated from Virginia High School, Macalester College and Yale Law School. He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Aase, on August 23, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army. He was City Attorney for the City of Virginia. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and motorcycling. One of his favorite places was the deer camp on the Vermilion River and the times shared there with his father, father-in-law, brother, sons and nephews.
Jerry is survived by his children, Carrie (Ted) Lewis, Katherine (Michael) Lapic, Harold (Lori) Ketola and Alan Ketola; grandchildren, Rebecca (Daniel) Zubich, Amanda (Mark) Peaslee, Leah Lapic, Maia Lapic, Abby (Nathan) Dahl, Krista Lapic, Keith Ketola and Kelly Ketola; and brother, William (Judith) Ketola.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca, and his parents, Edmund and Florence Ketola. Jerry often said he was very lucky to live at Lake Vermilion, “the most beautiful place on earth.”
The family would like to thank the staff at Carefree Living in Cook for their exceptional care of Jerry while he resided there.
