He was born on September 11, 1928 in Westphalia, MI the son of Leo and Rose (Schafer) Bauer. For the past 21 years, Dad cared for his wife of 57 years, Marlene. Dad loved sitting on the porch swing with his family and shooting the breeze. He enjoyed long rides through the countryside checking out the crops, farms, and silos that he and his dad and brothers built. He was an avid dairy and hog farmer, and very much enjoyed walking and shopping in the malls. Seeing his grandchildren would light up Dad’s face.
