Age 82, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014. He was born on February 5, 1932 in Westphalia, MI the son of Oscar and Louise (Thelen) Schafer. Mr. Schafer was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, retired from General Motors after 31 years of service, and proudly served in the U.S. Army Korean Conflict. Jerome enjoyed tinkering in his garage, and enjoyed watching family sporting events. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Luke Schafer; grandson, Darren Schneider; son-in-law, Wayne Schneider; sister, Therese Klein; brother-in-laws, Leonard Schomisch and Carl May. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Adeline Schafer; children, Mary (Steven) Schneider, Kathleen (William) Pung, Bernadette (Gary) Meyers, Joseph (Sue) Schafer, Geralyn (Michael) Schaefer, Patricia (Randy) Pompey, Thomas (LeAnn) Schafer, Ronald (Lori) Schafer, Anthony (Karen) Schafer, William (Tisha) Schafer, and Donna (Steven) Schrauben; 33 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; siblings, Stanley (Rose) Schafer, Marie Schomisch, Germaine May, Eugene (Margie) Schafer, Mark (Mary Lee) Schafer, and Elizabeth Schafer; brother-in-law, Stanley Klein.
