Jeanette  Clara  Faes, 92, of Hermann, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. 

Jeanette was born in Washington, Missouri on January 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Edward and Hulda (Reinholz) Gardner.

Her high school education was interrupted by World War II, working at a small arms factory in St. Louis.  She met Vernon Faes at the Concert Hall dances in Hermann prior to World War II.  She was married to Vernon on May 10, 1943 in St. Louis.  Jeanette lived with her in-law, William & Emma Faes in Hermann as Vernon was stationed in the army in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Jeanette is survived by a daughter Delores Horstmann & husband Mike of Washington, Missouri, a son Donald Faes & wife Donna of Woodstock, Illinois, three sisters Betty Eckelkamp and Evelyn Jaeger of Washington and Marilyn King of Boulder, Colorado, by four grandchildren, Natalie Faes of Wheeling, Illinois and Tabitha Green of Deerfield, Illinois, Michael, Jr. of Hermann and Kristine Huxel of Union, Missouri, by two great-grandchildren Andrew Horstmann and Adaline Green, and by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and by four brothers Edward, Virgil, Rudy and Lester Gardner.

After World War II Jeanette worked part-time at various positions in Hermann from 1955 to 1990 at Daughtery’s Shoe Store, Handi-Pac Toy Factory as a shipping manager, and at Hermann Hospital as a nurses aide. She was a member and held various positions of importance in the following organizations in Hermann, the Hermann Eagles Auxiliary #1328, awarded Mother of the year in 1984, she assisted Vernon with delivering Meals-on-Wheels, Oats Volunteer of the year award for Gasconade County in 2005, St. George Church, where she was a member of the ladies sodality and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and she was a board member of Hermann Area Ambulance District from 1976 to 1982.
