Jean McGee Krogness age 91 of Wayzata, passed on October 31, 2022.

Jean met Charlie in 1952 while she was attending the University of Minnesota and they had been married almost 70 years.  Jean was a homemaker who gave her family the gift of her faith, love of family, friends and community.  As Jean focused on raising their three daughters, she was a strong role model of giving back to her community. Trained in volunteer leadership by the Jr. League of Minneapolis, she became involved in many organizations over the years, always taking on a leadership role.  She joined the Northwestern Hospital Board in the late 1960s. It was a women’s board at the time and with her leadership, they merged with Abbott and created what is now, Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Jean was the first woman to chair the board of the Minneapolis Red Cross and from there went on to join the National board of the American Red Cross.  She was a long-time member of the board of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, as well as serving as president of the Friends of the MIA.  Throughout her life she was well known for her commitment to raising funds for these organizations. Jean loved her church, St. Martins by-the-Lake, and served on the alter guild. An avid gardener, she also served as president of the Lake Minnetonka Garden Club. One of Jean’s dreams was to be a business owner, which she achieved in retirement, as the co-owner of The Gold Mine Antiques in Wayzata, along with a group of friends.  As in true Jean style, she became the CEO.  Jean’s family wishes to thank Sara, Jennie and their team for the love and care they provided for Jean and her family, at the end of her life.
