Jean Carol Fleming Langdon Phillips, 78, passed away September 22, 2016.
Ms. Phillips was born September 15, 1938 in Rivesville, WV, to the late Alvis and Margaret Fleming. She graduated from Rivesville High School in 1956. She graduated from Fairmont State College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and English. She then received a master’s degree from Mississippi State.
Ms. Phillips began her career teaching senior English and working as a guidance counselor at schools in West Virginia and Mississippi. She settled on the coast where she raised her family and taught at College Park Elementary from its inception. Here she dedicated the remainder of her career educating both third and first grades. In all, she devoted 40 years educating future generations.
Ms. Phillips is preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Fleming; sister, Janet Atchinson; husbands, Wylie Langdon and Ronald Phillips. She is survived by her children, Kevin Langdon, Leslie (Brian) Langdon, Glenn (Tara) Langdon, and Heather Phillips; brother, James Fleming; grandchildren, Ashtin, Kendal, Britney, Gage, Camryn, Mallory, and Quinn Langdon; great-grandaughter, Elizabeth Sweeting; also Joshua Sweeting and Jimmy Allmand; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
