Janet Marie Sorvelli Alvandi was born in Jamestown NY on May 6th 1957. She was the daughter of Mary and Gerald Sorvelli and had an older brother named Daniel Sorvelli. She received her high school diploma from Jamestown highschool, and received her bachelors of arts degree in psychology from St. Bonaventure College in Olean NY. After graduation she was employed at the St. James Church in Jamestown, as director of religious education, under tutelage of Monsignor Tony Attea. In 1982 Janet and Foad her future husband met while taking courses at the nearby Gannon College in Erie Pennsylvania. They were married on May 18 1984 at St. James Church.
