James William Kelly Jr., 71, of Damascus, Maryland, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at home with his family.
He was born on January 6, 1947 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to James William and Gladys Krichbaum Kelly. Jim will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, wisdom, and no nonsense approach to life.
Jim earned a Bachelor’s from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s from Western Maryland College, and spent his career as a special education teacher who influenced the lives of many children and colleagues in the Montgomery County Public School system for 27 years.
Throughout his life he loved hunting and became an avid golfer during his retirement; if the skies were blue, you’d likely find him on the golf course making new friends (in-between the occasional birdie and lost golf ball).
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Kelly, his son Matthew and wife Jordan of Falls Church, Virginia, brothers Timothy and wife Anne, Thomas and wife Brenda, Daniel and wife Marla, and sisters Patricia Kolosky and her late husband James, and Kathleen Riedmann, all of Pennsylvania.
He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, dear friends (and 68 cousins!).
