Auburn: On Wednesday, May 29, James G. Purdy, of Lisbon, was called Home to be with the Lord. Born on May 4, 1940, in Bedford, Ohio, the youngest of six children born to Warren and Ruby Purdy.
Mr. Purdy served his country in the US Coast Guard. Formerly a police officer in Berea, Ohio, he was a deputy on the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department for several years. He also owned and operated the Little Mountain Variety in Bridgton.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; his sons, James. D. Purdy, and wife, Kathie of Saco; Jeffrey A. Purdy and wife, Julie of New Gloucester; grandchildren, Joseph. S. Gunn of Saco; Kelly G. Thayer and husband Oliver of Saco; and Hannah Purdy of New Gloucester. He is also survived by brothers, Warren Jr., and Dan, both of Florida, and David Purdy, of Ohio.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia E. Purdy; Sisters, Elaine Geiser, and Lavern Nussbaum.
