Age 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. He was born on August 29, 1935 in Ionia the son of Oliver and Mary (Marlett) Hood. Jim was a graduate of Ionia High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. While in college, he was a member of the SAE fraternity and was involved in the Army ROTC program there. After graduation he was stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He served as President of the Ionia Coca Cola Bottling Co. /Hood-Stout Inc. for many years. Jim was very active in the community and his memberships included, the Ionia County Memorial Hospital Board where he served as Board Chair and Treasurer, and was also elected to the Ionia City Council. He was a member of the Ionia Elks Lodge and is a Past Exalted Ruler, was a past president of the Ionia High School Alumni Association, and was a devout member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ionia. He was a big supporter and fan of MSU athletics, and loved to golf and bowl. He was preceded in death by his parents and step daughter, Kaci Renucci. Surviving are his 2 children from a previous marriage, Frederick J. Hood of Lansing and Marcia L. Harrison of Tallahassee, Florida; wife, Linda (Swinehart) of Ionia; step children, Kelly Renucci of Ionia, Karen (David) Halliday of Dewitt, and Kristine (Clint) Clemens of Ionia; 2 grandchildren, Adam Robert Harrison of Tallahassee, Florida and Whitney Marie Harrison of Orlando, Florida; 5 step grandchildren, Frankie Spratto, Stephanie, Stacey, and Jaime Sayers, and Jordan Renucci; siblings, Sandy Fischer of Sebastian, Florida, Judy (Ron) Rozeboom of Ionia, and Larry (Pam) Hood of Ocala, Florida; several nieces,nephews and great grandchildren.
