James Warren Nelson, age 82 of Keewatin passed from this life to his eternal home with God on October 6, 2013. Jim was born June 12, 1931 in Brainerd, MN the son of Emil and Winifred (Holmes) Nelson. On March 25, 1950 he married Pauline Lamping. A short while later he moved to Hibbing and then to Keewatin where Jim worked and they raised their four boys. Jim retired from National Steel Pellet Co. in 1985. Jim loved to work in his garage and also enjoyed jewelry making. He also loved to travel and go on short term mission trips to help others that were less fortunate than himself. He was a member of Gideon’s International and a long standing board member and supporter of Big Sandy Camp in McGregor. He was a member of Hibbing Alliance Church for 50+ years where he served as an elder and board member; he also enjoyed attending Nashwauk Alliance Church with his family. Jim was a very Godly man dedicated to serving others and his family. His family was the love of his life, second only to his love for God. After Pauline, his wife of nearly 60 years died, he was blessed to find love again with his current wife: Joyce Guentzel. Jim and Joyce were married September 18, 2010. They made their home in Keewatin where they lived happily until his death.
Jim is survived by wife: Joyce; sons and daughters-in-law: Craig (Peggy) of Goodland, Ricky (Connie) of Hibbing, Troy (Kathy) of rural Nashwauk, and Joel (JoDee) of Ramsey; step-children: Jane Larson of Chisholm, Susan (Dave) Reiten of Grand Rapids, Laurie (Larry) Zundel of Seattle, Jeffry (Ramona) Guentzel of Wenachee, WA and Brian Guentzel of Hibbing; sister: Marrian Tollefson of Baxter; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
