James Edward Wagner, 70, son of Edward and Myrtle Wagner was born on September 1, 1936 in Thief River Falls, MN. He graduated from Middle River High School in 1954. On July 21, 1958, he married Karen Paulsen of Badger, MN. They moved to Fargo, ND and attended Interstate Business College. In 1960, he was drafted into the army and was stationed at Ft. Louis, Washington. After the army, they moved to Auburn, WA and he was an engineer for Boeing Aircraft. In 1969, they moved to Roseau, MN. He worked at the Creamery, Rosco, parts supply for Polaris, Roseau County as a heavy equipment operator, a number of years being his own boss and doing painting, plastering and texturing, owned and operated a cafAC. in Badger, he also worked at Ace Hardware and also did hospice work.
He was an active member of the Roseau American Legion, serving as Commander for two terms and Chef De Car of the 40/8 for two terms. He was proud of the fund raising they did and the Smorgasbords they prepared for the hockey teams for over 500 people at a time.
He was a “Jack of all trades” and built his first boat and his house in Roseau, including the plumbing. He was a handyman, a good cook, and a dancer.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly (William) Schuster of Apple Valley, MN, his son John (Jamie) Wagner of Mena, AR, grandchildren Tyler, DeLenn, Dakota, and Austin, two brothers Bill (Shirley) of Greenbush and Jack (Dorothy) of Ft. Meyers, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Karen.
Jim entered the Abbott Northwestern Hospital on September 22, 2006. He originally was in to undergo heart surgery, but had multiple complications after it. He died Sunday November 5, 2006 on All Saints Day.
