James Edward Meyers, 68, of Bremen, passed away at his home on the evening of July 30th after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Venice, FL on January 26th 1945, he was the son of Robert P. and Bertha (Kwash) Meyers. Jim moved from Florida to Connecticut at a very early age, and grew up in Southington, CT where he would go on to graduate from Southington High School. After graduation, he served honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he met a special education teacher in Connecticut, Karen “Kandy” Hall of Damariscotta. The couple would marry and move back to Kandy’s hometown where she got a job at the Bristol Consolidated School. During this time, Jim went to work repairing appliances throughout the area, eventually opening his own business, Medomak Appliance Service. Jim enjoyed travelling, and had spent the last several winters in Florida. Besides his family, there was nothing he liked more than motorcycles, guns and fast cars. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Karen “Kandy” Meyers. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Meyers and her husband, Ryan Cilbrith of Canaan, NH; his partner of several years, Sue Morang of Bremen; one brother, Robert P. Meyers, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Winsted, CT; two sisters, Kathleen Meyers and her husband Alan Mordhorst of Rocky Hill, CT, and Judith Meyers and her partner Wayne Smith of Coventry, CT; two grandchildren, Alanna and Brayden Cilbrith; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.
