Iris E. Sherman, age 94, of Hibbing and formerly of International Falls, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born November 12, 1922, in Ft. Frances, Ontario. Iris graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to attend Beauty College in Duluth. A Veteran of the US Navy, Iris served during WWII.
Iris worked as a hairdresser at the Androy in Hibbing. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing, The VFW Auxiliary, and the Sr. Citizen’s Center. She volunteered her time at the Hibbing Food Shelf, The Family Investment Center, and the Sr. Meal Program at the 7th Avenue Apartments.
Iris is survived by her son: Bruce (Judy) Sherman of Silica; daughter: Carolann Voss of Hibbing; son-in-law: Jack Tomatz of Hibbing; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Norman in 1989; her infant son: Wade; her daughter: Renee Tomatz; and her son-in-law: David Voss.
