Herman Hoover Atkins, 80, died January 29 from complications of leukemia. Born in Boone, North Carolina he moved to Michigan when he was 12. He graduated from Henry Ford Trade School in 1947. He was a naval veteran and a Chief Petty Officer on the USS Sierra. He retired from Ford Motor Company after more than 40 years of service. He and his wife were life long members of Livonia Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Dennis and Gail Atkins; Dr. Don and Pam Atkins; Van and “Sandy” Lynn Latham; Dwayne and Pat Atkins; Dan and Diann Graf and 12 cherished grandchildren.
