Herbert William Hinds, Sr., age 90 of Portland, passed away January 6, 2018. Herb was born on May 23, 1927 in Ionia, MI the son of Leo and Gladys (Merrill) Hinds. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and remains a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post # 4090. He retired from Auto Air Industries of Lansing after 30 years of service and continued to reside in Portland. He lived a full and enjoyable life.
Herb was preceded in death by his daughter Kay Densmore (Hinds); sons, Herbert Hinds, Jr. and Randy Hinds; brothers, Bill Hinds, Maxwell Hinds, and George Hinds. He is survived by daughters, Linda Chartrand (Hinds), Judy Smith (Hinds), and Sherry Agostini (Hinds); son, Bill Hinds (Lisa); sisters, Adele Hansen (Hinds) and Rosetta Thomas (Hinds).
