Henry “Hank” Farrington, Sr., 63, passed away December 1st after a long, hard, and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He fought it up until his very last breath. He was born a St. Patrick’s day baby in 1952 in Rumford, ME the son of Madeline and Charles Farrington.
Henry was one of the most humble, honest, and hard working men you would ever meet. If anyone needed his help- he’d break his back just to make it happen. Often times, living paycheck to paycheck, he would still turn over a wallet full of cash if he came across it. It’s just the way he was. When his kids were growing up, he would patch the same holes over and over again in his jeans, just so that he could give new clothes to the kids. He was a Chevy man who liked to joke around, but he could also be a drill sergeant when it came to priorities. He hated to be late for anything. He loved camping and fishing (coffee and cigarettes too) and spent his summers on Lower Range Pond in Poland Spring, ME. It wasn’t uncommon to get slapped in the forehead by him and told, “You should have had a V8!”
He was involved with Teamsters Union through his work at Monson/Shurtleff Co. where he worked for 28 years, and the guys there became a second family to him. He is survived by his wife Janet of 30 years. His 5 children: Henry Jr. and his wife Stacey, Tammy, Shawn and his spouse Sandy, Kelly, and Amanda. He had 14 grandchildren, 9 1/2 (one on the way!) great grandchildren, a sister Alice, brothers Eugene and Lewis, brother in laws Russ and Danny, and sister in law Mary, many grand pets, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his in laws Bucky and Jean Elwell, his brother Harry, brother in laws Peter Vance, Bucky Jr. Elwell, and sister in law Cheryl Bouchard.
