Helen Edna Turnbough, 81, of Steelville passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Cuba Manor in Cuba, Missouri. She was born Tuesday, May 12, 1925, to parents, Walter and Edna Pyatt Brown. She was united in marriage to Roy Turnbough on December 20, 1941 in Steelville and to this union three sons and one daughter were born. After 63 years of marriage Roy preceded Helen in death on November 27, 2004.
Those left to mourn her passing are three sons, Joe Turnbough and wife Betty of Cherryville, Jerry Turnbough and wife Teal of Cuba, and Ronnie Turnbough of Cuba; one daughter, Vickey Gilliam and husband Bill of Steelville; very special friends, Charles and Cathy Breeden of Wentzville; 12 grandchildren, Tammie and husband Doug Nix, Keith Turnbough, Joseph Bass, Scott and wife Shannon Bass, Sherrie and husband David Wilson, Jerry and wife, Cheryl Turnbough, Terry and wife Pattie Turnbough, Michael Turnbough, Tyler Turnbough, Alycen Turnbough, Lisa and husband Ronny Weber and Tina Turnbough; 16 great grandchildren; Brett, Brian and Aaron Wilson, Jamie, Andrew, and Tara Turnbough, Ryan and Reese Weber, Brandi Smith, Brandon Turnbough, Doug Nix Jr., Josh Nix, Alexis Turnbough, Travis Nix, Scott Spurlin and Alexis Spurlin ; 2 great-great-grandchildren Kirsten Rae and Chase Michael Nix; three sisters, Mae Farrar of Bourbon, Virgie Santambrogio and husband Bob of Steelville, and Isolene Kuenz and husband Frank of Channelview, Texas; two brothers-in-law Ellis Turnbough and wife Dawn of Davisville and Lawrence Turnbough and wife Bonnie of Davisville; three sisters-in-law Bonnie Welker and husband Dale of Potosi, Dorothy Pierce of St. Louis, and Rosalene Turnbough of Davisville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, one grandson Joseph Richard Turnbough Jr., one great-grandson Brenden Wilson, one brother Hershel Harris, four brothers in law, Richard Turnbough, Troy Turnbough, Leahman Pierce, and Jake Turnbough; and one sister-in-law Geraldine Turnbough. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend.
“Nan” as Helen was called by all who loved her enjoyed her family and life. She was a member of the Steelville Country Club for many years. Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
