Hazel Lorraine (Brown) Baise of Brunswick passed away in Mid-Coast Maine Hospital, Brunswick, Maine on Saturday, January 1, 2022.  She was born in Dresden, Maine on March 20, 1939, to Mr. William and Pearl (Blodgett) Brown. She graduated in 1956 from Bridge Academy in Dresden, as Salutatorian, and was selected as Class President four consecutive years, and was active in basketball and softball.  After high school, she attended secretarial school in Hartford, CT. Her career began with the Royal Typewriter Co. in Hartford, CT as a stenographer at the Arrow-Hart and Hegerman Electric Company.

She met her former husband, Golden Eugene (Gene) Baise, when he was serving in the United States Navy, in Groton, CT.  They wed in Gardiner, Maine on September 7, 1957, and lived briefly in Connecticut and West Virginia. After, she and Gene returned to Maine and started their family and life-long careers. Hazel was then employed with Congress Sportswear Co., in Bath, Maine, where she served as an Administrative Assistance.  After the company closed its doors, Hazel was employed with the Bath Iron Works, local Union 7, as an Administrative Clerk until she retired from BIW in 2015.

Hazel often talked of her days growing up in Dresden and of her time working in the fields as a teenager raking blueberries.  This is where she learned that hard work builds your soul and would tell her children to work hard at whatever they chose in life.

Hazel is survived by her brothers Jack Brown of Pittston, ME and William (Bill) Brown of Port Orange, FL; her three children, Teresa L. (Baise) Moore of Bath, Christopher S. Baise of MD, and Colette N. (Baise) Pushard and her husband George of KY. She was predeceased by her son Golden Eugene Baise, Jr. She is also survived by Eugene’s wife Dawn Baise of Wiscasset, ME.; granddaughters Natasha Baise, Breanna Baise, Ashley (Baise) Fair and her family, and Audrey Baise; grandsons John Adam Pushard and his wife Becky, Barry Moore, Jr., and Arron Pushard and his wife Lindsay; and four great-grandchildren: Addison, Mya, Wade, and Jordyn.
