Born on the Fourth of July in 1926, Harvey Heppe, 81, of Orleans, will be watching fireworks from heaven this holiday. Harvey died Monday of injuries from an auto accident in May.
One of the happiest days of his life was when he was able to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Gertrude in 2003.
Harvey was a family man ahead of his time, always finding time to play ball with his kids and take them on annual summer vacations as children, despite the long hours of farm life and working full time for the State Liquor Control Commission. When they were older, he never stopped being there for them. He loved to hunt, watch NASCAR and the Detroit Tigers, go yard-saling with his wife and spend time at “the cabin.
