Harry Mikaelian passed away on October 23, 2019, in Florida with his loved ones around him. He was born on May 25, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. His father, Simon Mikaelian, moved the family to Detroit and opened a shoe repair store, where Harry worked alongside his father. Harry attended Wilbur Wright Trade School and he enlisted in the Navy in 1947, serving in the Korean War. He married Lucy Hamparian, the love of his life, when he returned from his service in the Navy and they had three loving children, Jeffrey, Nancy and Michael. After Lucy’s death, Harry married Gloria Baykian.Harry worked as a machinist in the tool and die industry and was a Vice President at Forge Die and Tool when he retired. He moved to Florida to enjoy his passions of golf and fishing year round. Harry was very close to his family while living in Michigan. He and his sister, Rose Kalfaian, had a very special relationship and he often recalled childhood memories of her. Harry Mikaelian is survived by his children Jeffrey Mikaelian, Nancy Berberian and her husband Nick, and Michael Mikaelian, as well as his grandchild Mark Berberian and his wife Talar, and his Great Granddaughter Datev Lucy Berberian. He is also survived by his brother Simon Mikaelian, and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews. Harry developed a new family and many friends in Florida. He met Jack Shoenfelt, when he moved to Florida, and they remained best friends till the very end. Jeffrey, Nancy and Michael are grateful to Jack, and his family, who treated Harry as one of their own, as well as the Oriole Golf Club extended family for all their love, friendship and assistance they provided to Harry over the years. He loved being around other people and nothing made him happier than putting smiles on their faces. There is no question that is how Harry would want to be remembered.
