Harry B. Auble, 90, of Cumberland, Maine passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 after a brief illness. Harry was born in Tiffin, Ohio, the son of Harry and Sue Auble.
Harry served in WWII as a Marine in the Pacific Theater of Operations. In 1948 he participated on the only football team ever to compete in the Olympics. Harry graduated from Springfield College with a Masters Degree in teaching. He began his career as a Physical Education teacher and coach in Corning, NY before transferring to Lowville, NY, and finishing his career in East Greenbush, NY, where he retired. Harry enjoyed a long career in coaching football, wrestling and lacrosse. He spent his summers teaching swimming at local pools. Harry was a life-long member of Kiwanis.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjory in 2012 after 67 years of marriage, and their middle daughter, Kathleen Mann of Randolph, Vermont in 2001. He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Moisan of St. Mary, Georgia and Phyllis Dickey of Cumberland, Maine. Harry leaves behind three grandchildren, Marianne Richardson of St. Mary, Georgia; Daniel Moisan of Warwick, Rhode Island and Maggie Dickey of Cumberland, Maine. Harry also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Stella and Elijah Richardson, both of St. Mary, Georgia.
Harry spent his retirement years watching sporting events, traveling the roads of Maine and watching his grandchildren grow up. Harry lived his last few months at the Woods at Canco where he enjoyed the people, events and accommodations.
