Portland – Harold E., Lovejoy, “Papa”, 86 of Portland passed away at the Maine Medical Center on November 15, 2013. He was born in Concord, New Hampshire, the son of Harold E., Sr. and Beatrice (MacDonald) Lovejoy on May 30, 1927.
After school, Harold enlisted in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran. He returned to Portland and began his lifelong career as a Barber. For many years he was located at the corner of Washington and Cumberland Avenues. Harold loved horse racing and bingo and was always known to tell a good joke.
In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by; Beatrice “Cookie” Tracy, Wayne Lovejoy, Michael Lovejoy and William “Will” Tracy. He is survived by Terry Newcomb and her husband Charles of Manchester, NH, Bobbie-Joe Graffam of Portland, Billie-Jo Tracy of Portland, Beatrice “May” Tracy of Portland, Scott Lovejoy and his wife Angela of South Portland, John Lovejoy of Portland, Dennis Lovejoy and his wife Gladys of Portland and Rita-Ann Lovejoy and her husband Richard Hagan of Scarborough as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
