Harold Albert Schowe, 86 New Haven, MO passed away Friday October 28, 2016, at the New Haven Care Center.

Harold was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Berger, to Emil and Anna Schowe. He received his early education at Lower Berger Bottom School and graduated from New Haven High School in 1948. He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army and was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 366 for more than 55 years.

On May 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Harriet Kassebaum. They operated the family farm west of New Haven until 1992 when they retired and moved to town. A faithful member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in New Haven, he served on the church council and volunteered for many church projects. He was on the New Haven MFA Oil Board of directors. A regular donor at American Red Cross blood drives, in retirement he served as coordinator of the quarterly drives in New Haven.

Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Harriet of New Haven; one son Don Schowe & wife Dorothy, of New Haven; one daughter Donna Hartmann & husband Jeff, of Liberty, MO.; by three grandchildren, Sarah Bloch & husband Tyler, and Timothy Schowe, all of New Haven; and Erich Hartmann, of Columbia, MO.  He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Adalaine & Henry Bloch, and a sister-in-law Mary Jane Schoening, of Owensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Delola Meyer, Leona Marlowe and Bertha Hoerstkamp and one brother Harvey Schowe.
