Gwendolyn Stenglein, age 97, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation in Hibbing. She was born January 12, 1918, in Toronto, Canada the daughter of Enoch and Lila (Chapel) Edwards. Gwen graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to receive her AA from Hibbing Junior College. Gwen was united in marriage to Robert Stenglein on January 24, 1940, in Duluth, MN.
Gwen worked as a homemaker. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served in the Hannah Circle. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary in Hibbing. Gwen enjoyed playing bridge and reading.
Gwen is survived by her husband of 75 years: Bob; her children: Roberta (Mickey) Sonaglia of Grand Rapids, MN, Richard Stenglein of Hibbing, and Sally (Tom) Gaige of Hibbing; her grandchildren: Michael (Anita) Sonaglia, Mark (Mary) Sonaglia, Stacie (Marco) Satchell, and Jonathan (Fiancée Samantha Rice) Gaige; and her great-grandchildren: Jordan, Dante, Sam, Gabriella, and Braedan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: William and Jack.
