Gustav “Gus” Eikermann, age 92, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James, Missouri.
He was born January 17, 1923 in Stolpe, Missouri to the late Gustave A. & Delia (Kotthoff) Eikermann. His mother Delia died three weeks later in the 1923 flu epedemic. Gus was raised by his aunt and uncle Henry & Anna Frechmann.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy (Bracht) Eikermann on June 4, 1944. He and Dorothy were married for 71 years. She survives in Hermann.
Gus worked at Bracht’s Machine Shop for 12 years. He also farmed and worked in sales. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life time member of the Hermann V.F.W. Post 4182. In his free time he enjoyed to fish and hunt, especially deer hunt.
Along with his wife, Gus is also survived by a son Gary Eikermann & wife Emily, a daughter-in-law Ronda Eikermann, by six grandchildren, Lisa Eikermann, Matthew Scott Eikermann, Michael Eikermann & wife Angela, Andrew Eikermann, Amy Blankenship & husband Chris, Sarah Dotson, by six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ada Heinlein, two brothers Truman Eikermann & wife Pearline and Virgil Eikermann & wife Margaret.
He is preceded in death by a son Stanley Eikermann, by his parents, by two brothers Erwin & Alson Eikermann and a sister Mardel Eikermann.
