Everett was born on July 31, 1922 in Gray Maine to Carroll and Dorothy (Sawyer) Doughty. He graduated from Pennell Institute in 1939, and served in the Army during WWII, in Galveston, TX. where he met and married his wife Louise (Croix) Doughty. They moved back to Maine in 1946 after his discharge from the service. He lived in East Windham for most of his adult life, raising his family and Working for Emery Waterhouse and the Joseph Simon Company.
In retirement he and Louise sold their house in E. Windham and moved back to Gray, to the Apple Tree Retirement Village. He was a member of the Windham Kiwanis for 35 years, a past president, 65-66, and a avid worker on their horse shows. He was a founding and longtime member of the East Windham Fire Department (1956 – 1983). In his retirement years he worked with the Handicapped children at the Ride to the Top Therapeutic Riding Center in Windham Maine from 2005 to 2007. His early hobbies were fly fishing and Ham radio. In later years he spent many hours with the Gray historical society, and working on his family lineage.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise M. Croix Doughty, his Father and Mother, two brothers, Bernard and Leonard Doughty both of (Gray Maine), and a half-sister, Olive Caroline (Doughty) Kinney, Maine. He is survived by his son, Louis Wayne Doughty (Rebecca) Colorado, his sister Janice (Doughty) Morrison (Ira) Arkansas, his brother Ronald Doughty (Joan) Connecticut, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and Nephews.
The family wishes to thank his Niece, Sharon (Doughty) Snow and her husband Lester “Sonny” Snow (Maine) for the diligent care they had given Everett over the past few years when he has been sick and dependent on outside help. We would also like to thank the residents of Apple Tree Village for their support network. You are angels.
